About VECM
The original Animal Emergency Clinic of Southern NH was formed in 1991 by area veterinarians (see our founding members). They felt that their clients who needed after clinic hours emergency care for their pets would be better suited at a centralized facility.
The clinic originally started on Brown Avenue in the Pine Island Plaza where the founding veterinarians would rotate through long hours at the emergency clinic in addition to running and practicing at their own hospitals! As the need for after hour emergency care increased, it became very difficult for the local veterinarians to maintain their own hospitals in addition to staffing the emergency clinic on nights and weekends, so veterinarians who were practicing just emergency medicine were brought on staff.
After moving from Virginia in 1996, where he practiced emergency medicine for 2 years, Dr Kevin Pascoe was hired at AEC as one of their full time emergency veterinarians. Since Dr Pascoe started at the AEC, he was named Chief of Staff in 1999 and proceeded to work closely with the founding members until he purchased the practice in 2005. When he bought the practice he formed a PLLC entitled "Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester" but continued to stay "doing business as" AECSNH to make it less confusing until he was able to move the practice to a different location.
In 2006, the "Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester" made its debut on Carl Drive in Manchester.
In 2010 we made a big step forward in terms of what our practice could offer clients when we moved to our current location on 336 Abby Road in Manchester. The Veterinary Emergency Center is now located in a state of the art facility where we work aside two specialty groups: The Southern New Hampshire Veterinary Referral Center and the New England Veterinary Oncology Group.
The doctors and patients now have access to board certified specialty care without having to travel out of the city.
